Institutional Overview & Affiliation
- St. Augustine’s is a Private, Catholic-sponsored teacher training college located in Ishiara, Mbeere North, Embu County, Kenya. The college offers Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education (DSTE) and Diploma Teacher Education (DTE_PP&P).
- The college is also Affiliated with Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) — enabling it to offer Diplomas in Guidance & Psychological Counselling, alongside its core teacher education programs
Mission & Vision
- Vision: To form educators of outstanding academic and professional excellence through holistic development thus forming Teachers of Integrity.
- Mission: To instil moral, spiritual, knowledge-based, and skilful grounding in trainees, guided by Gospel values following the example of St. Augustine and this is guided by our MOTTO: – “CHARITY IN TRUTH”.

- Our Intakes typically via interviews around May and all classes start in September of each year.
Infrastructure & Governance
- The college is Governed by a Board of Management (nicknamed the “Board of Hope” in 2025), chaired by Rev. Fr. Alex Mati with Fr. Isaiah Njiru as secretary and eight other BOM members.
- The Board that was inaugurated this 2025 came up with Development initiative which includes ambitious plans to expand infrastructure, boost male enrolment in teaching, and possibly introduce bachelor’s and master’s programs in the very new Future.
- These development infrastructures are as follow: –
- Construction of Administration block
- Construction of Ultra- modern resource Centre
- Completion of the new women Hostels
- Completion of the new classrooms
- Construction of Principal residential house
- Construction of College Chapel and Clergy resident
- Improvement of the Physical appearance of the college i.e from the entrance, pavements and pathways
- Improvement of the Internet connectivity among other developments.
NB/New programs—particularly TVET courses and short community-focused diplomas—will further anchor the college in local development.
Quality & Outcomes
- During its 26th graduation, under the leadership of Principal Fr. Joseph Isaiah Njiru and able lecturers, the college reported a 99% pass rate, this is ideal showing the Maintenance of the college performance offer the years.

- In Embu County, which has growing demand for CBE teacher need, St. Augustine TTC serves the purpose not only in the county, but also the country and beyond.
- Its mix of academic, life Skill and vocational training would support county/country goals in education, health, and social services.
